Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) on Friday signed a 10-year sales and purchase agreement with Gujarat Energy to supply up to four million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from 2028, further strengthening its presence in India’s expanding gas market.
The agreement marks ADNOC’s fifth LNG supply deal with an Indian company, following similar arrangements with Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil Corporation, GAIL and Hindustan Petroleum.
Under the agreement, XRG, ADNOC’s international investment arm, will supply LNG produced outside the Gulf and owned by it through ADNOC’s global LNG marketing and trading platform.
Rashid Al Mazrouei, Chief Marketing & Origination Officer (LNG) at ADNOC, said, “It represents the first sale of molecules from XRG’s international portfolio, reinforcing our commitment to delivering reliable, long-term LNG supplies.”
He added, “Through our integrated LNG marketing and trading platform, we are connecting our growing international portfolio with customers in key regions across global markets, while providing India with reliable, flexible and long-term LNG supplies.”
ADNOC’s global LNG marketing and trading platform also has supply agreements with Japan’s INPEX and Thailand’s Gulf Group.
The platform aims to market 47 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG beyond 2030.
Avantika Singh Aulakh, Managing Director of Gujarat Energy, said, “Through this partnership, Gujarat Energy and ADNOC are joining forces to fully realize the power of our collaboration.”
Gujarat Energy operates a city gas distribution network spanning 44 districts across six states.
