Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd reported a 32% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹630 crore in the second quarter of FY27, supported by higher patient volumes and growth across its hospital, pharmacy and digital healthcare businesses.
Consolidated revenue rose 23% to ₹7,615 crore, while EBITDA increased 29% to ₹1,191 crore.
The hospital business reported revenue of ₹3,900 crore, up 23%.
Its EBITDA grew 20% to ₹937 crore.
Inpatient volumes increased 14% to 1.86 lakh, while occupancy improved to 73% from 69% a year earlier.
Average revenue per inpatient rose 8% to ₹1,86,880.
The company attributed the growth to higher volumes in key specialties, including oncology, gastroenterology, cardiac care, orthopaedics and urology.
“It is a combination of factors, but most of the growth came from the strong performance in cardiac, orthopaedic, oncology and gastroenterology.
This contributed to the volume growth,” Suneeta Reddy, Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd, told The Hindu.
Revenue from international patients had increased 37%, contributing to the overall increase in average revenue per patient.
Ms.
Reddy said patients were drawn to Apollo’s healthcare services by the quality of care and clinical outcomes at a fraction of the cost of treatment in some overseas markets.
Patients come from countries including Cambodia and Vietnam, Mauritius and other island nations, neighbouring countries in South Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
The company is also seeing patients from Europe.
Ms.
Reddy attributed the demand from international patients to Apollo’s quality of healthcare and clinical outcomes, which she said were available at about one-tenth of the cost in some overseas markets.
Apollo HealthCo, which houses its pharmacy and digital healthcare businesses, reported revenue of ₹3,286 crore and EBITDA of ₹193 crore.
The pharmacy network added 222 stores during the quarter, taking its total to 7,662.
Apollo Health and Lifestyle Ltd (AHLL) reported a 20% increase in revenue to ₹429 crore.
Its EBITDA rose to ₹61 crore from ₹34 crore in the year-earlier quarter.
In Tamil Nadu, Apollo reported revenue of ₹1,240 crore, up 19.1%.
Inpatient volumes increased 13.6%, while occupancy rose to 72% from 63%.
The company plans to add approximately 5,800 beds over the next five years.
Its proposed greenfield hospital on Chennai’s Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) is planned with 600 beds, including 500 census beds.
A 470-bed facility in Gurugram is on track to be commissioned in the third quarter of FY27.
The company said it spends nearly 3% of its revenue annually on IT and technology, including investments in a cloud-based data lake and data infrastructure to support AI adoption at scale.
