HDFC Bank, India’s largest private sector Bank, said it was conducting an internal review of an alleged leak of information by two senior executives of the Bank.

The Bank did not specify the reason behind the inquiry nor spelt out the names and designations of the said executives.

“The Bank is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethics and governance as outlined in our Code of Conduct.

We take any report of potential violations seriously,” a spokesperson of the Bank said.

“In line with our policies, an internal review into this matter is currently underway to gather and evaluate all relevant facts.

To protect the integrity of the process and the privacy of all parties involved, we do not comment on active internal reviews,” the spokesperson said.

“Appropriate action will be taken based on the findings, once the review is complete,” the spokesperson added.

Reportedly two executives of the Bank overseeing key business functions were found to be sharing confidential business strategies and sensitive data with external parties.

The inquiry comes ahead of the joining of Anup Bagchi as the Bank’s new MD & CEO on October 27, 2026.

HDFC Bank shares on Thursday fell 1.85% to ₹693.30 on the BSE.
