The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has extended the last date for submission of comments on its consultation paper on distribution reforms till October 31.
The consultation process has received an encouraging response, with over 650 comments received thus far.
In view of the significant interest and to facilitate wider participation, the last date for stakeholders and the public to submit feedback and suggestions is being extended, the regulator said on Saturday.
Placing its two-part consultation paper on the proposed distribution reforms titled ‘Recalibrating Economics of Insurance Distribution’ in public domain on September 23rd, IRDAI had set October 25 as the deadline.
Desirous stakeholders and members of the public are encouraged to utilise the extended timeline and submit their comments and suggestions.
The feedback received will help inform the further examination and refinement of the proposed reforms.
All other details and terms of the consultation paper remain unchanged, IRDAI said.
The insurance regulator is proposing a major overhaul of norms governing insurance distribution, commissions and expenses.
It said the objective is to foster a more efficient and inclusive insurance distribution ecosystem.
